Giraffes To Honor Wounded Warriors With Special Uniforms

For their Sept. 8th game against the Washington Huskers, the Roanoke Giraffes release their "Girafflage" unis. Jenna Marquis, one of the Giraffes' PR reps, says, "The uniforms are combining the natural camo of the Giraffe with the Woodland's color palette previously worn by the US Military. Since we will be focusing on troops past and present with this uniform, we will auction off the jerseys and helmets after the game to raise funds for the Wounded Warriors Foundation."

When Coach McManus was asked about the uniforms he replied, "I don't normally like changing from our standard uniforms on gameday. They represent Roanoke, the Giraffe herd, and our team. They did keep my suggestion to use the spotted pattern and we'll look good on the field. I hope we can raise enough money from the auction to help a few families in the area."
